Launched in 2007, Kidoinfo.com was recognized that same year as Rhode Island’s best online resource for families by Rhode Island Monthly. Kidoinfo.com is the brainchild of Anisa Raoof, a Providence, RI, mother of two, who became an online entrepreneur in part to satisfy her own wish for more and better child-centered information and to connect with other families. Raoof conceived the idea of an online community of local parents and caregivers where information and resources could be shared in one place.

The former coordinator of the Providence Craft Show for six years, Raoof had developed a passion for Providence and for fostering collaboration among artists, local businesses and visitors to promote the city’s great resources. This experience, combined with the birth of her sons, her background in design (metalwork and graphic), her interest in social networking technology, and her talent for connecting people and resources to each other culminated in the creation of Kidoinfo.com, a natural and innovative expression of Raoof’s talents and interests.

Today, Kidoinfo.com attracts over 18,000 monthly visitors and its “Weekend Picks” weekly newsletter has 2,000 plus subscribers. Raoof’s hip, highly comprehensive, beautifully designed website has become known among Rhode Island parents as the go-to source for all things kids and family, encompassing event listings; a resource directory featuring schools, summer camps, stores, party venues and more; and advice articles.

In addition to its fine design, what sets Kidoinfo.com apart from other parenting sites and family-focused media is its distinctive personality and lively community: comprehensive factual information is combined with Raoof’s personal recommendations, parents offering first-hand perspectives, and original daily blog articles on a wide range of topics such as where to eat out with kids, the best sledding hills, and creative craft projects.

Kidoinfo has established partnerships with the RISD Museum, Providence Children’s Museum and Roger Williams Park Zoo, who are now regular contributors to the site, sharing their latest news and activities with Kidoinfo readers. Raoof is currently exploring relationships with additional family-oriented institutions and service providers, as Kidoinfo continues to expand.
